Organization Background
The Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) was set up in September 2005. Its mandate under the Counter Narcotics Law is to investigate and prosecute serious narcotics offences from across Afghanistan. The CJTF includes investigators from the Ministry of Interior, prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General and judges from the Supreme Court working in the independent Central Narcotics Tribunal. After receiving cases, the Task Force is then responsible for all stages of the criminal process from investigation and prosecution through to final disposal by the Supreme Court. The UK and USA provide support for the operation and development of the CJTF as an Afghan judicial institution, and the UK provides salary support for the staff of the Task Force and assists the work of its Administration and Communication Units.
Job Summary:
The Translator/Interpreter is responsible to assist in the overall translations and interpretations of the CJTF communication directorate and provide translation support to CJTF Depts. He is also expected to act as interpreter for official visits of International mentors with Directors of the Criminal Justice Task Force.
The below are the main duties and responsibilities, but not limited to:
Key duties and responsibilities
•To translate CJTF Communications magazine articles from Dari to English and vice versa
•To translate workshops, conferences reports and other reports for media and website
•To translate CJTF Communications press releases weekly
•To perform translation of documents related to the entire CJTF Departments
•To translate Legislation, Reports, policies and other related documents
•To perform translation of training materials for CJTF Administrative Directorate
•To translate English, Dari and Pushto materials for CJTF website
•To attend and translate serious narco cases referred in English by International forces
•To perform language interpretation during investigation, prosecution and CJTF courts’ hearing process
•To attend CJTF relevant meetings with foreign mentors and CJTF professional staff
•To attend in Seminars and workshop for Interpretation
•To ensure the timed delivery of translated and edited material
•To ensure accuracy and integrity of translation
•To translate various articles for the CJTF website and Facebook account
•To prepare Judicial Verdicts and Weekly Judicial Schedule
•To prepare CJTF Communications Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports
•To assist in delivery of other events, trainings and workshops of the CJTF
•Any other tasks given by the CJTF Communications Director
Qualifications Required:
Education:
Bachelor degree English in Literature is required.
Experience:
Minimum 3 – 5 years work experience in the field of translation verbal and written
Language:
Must be fluent in Dari and Pashto and excellent knowledge English Language is required
Computer Skills
Excellent understanding of MS Office Package, emails, basic knowledge of Photoshop
Other Skills:
To have excellent writing skills of local and English languages
To have excellent communication skill
To be able to work with minimum supervision (essential)
