Numbers of people investigated, prosecuted and convicted by CJTF:

Since the start of 1392, staff of the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) has continued to work tirelessly to present a credible deterrence to those involved in the production and distribution of narcotics in Afghanistan.

There has been a clear and intense focus on the role of the CJTF in not only arresting and prosecuting alleged drug traffickers, but also ensuring that the rights of those arrested are fully respected and they are given a fair and open trial.

CJTF Investigation and Laboratory Department:

The CJTF Investigation and Laboratory Dept is the first department at the CJTF to receive the cases sent by the Counter Narcotics Police of Afghanistan (CNPA) and other law enforcement organizations (LEOs) from across Afghanistan.

In 2013, the CJTF Investigation and Laboratory Dept received 727 serious narcotics and intoxicating drinks cases including 906 suspects from the across the country and also 216 suspect-less cases from the across the country. As part of these cases 20 public officials, 9 foreigners and 16 females were among the suspects whose primary investigation was completed and sent to the CJTF Prosecution Department for further investigation.

Case Developments:

In 2013, the CJTF Investigation and Laboratory Dept developed 4 narco-cases with great skill and bravery which lead to the arrest of 7 suspects. After completing their investigation, the cases were sent to the CJTF Prosecution Department for further investigation.

The total quantities of seized drugs along with their cases were sent to the CJTF Investigation and Laboratory Dept within the last year, are as follows:

More than 5 tonnes heroin

More than 4.5 tonnes morphine

More than 75 tonnes opium

More than 28.5 tonnes hashish

More than 45 tonnes solid chemical precursors

More than 21,417 liters liquid precursors

More than 26,439 liters Alcohol

Beside the destruction of 22 drug processing laboratories, 96 different kinds of weapons with 34, 069 bullets, 2 rockets, 5 grenades, 5 transmittals, 716 cell-phones, and also 367 different kinds of vehicles were seized and detected by security and detective organizations.

CJTF General Prosecution Directorate:

In 2013, the CJTF Prosecution Directorate successfully completed the investigation and prosecution of 740 serious narcotics and intoxicating drinks cases based on the Law against intoxicating drinks and narcotics which they received from CJTF ILD. Within this period, the CJTF General Prosecution Directorate pursued and completed the investigation and prosecution of 636 cases of narcotic drugs and intoxicating drinks and also 104 cases are under investigation and prosecution process.

Within Islamic year 1392, the CJTF Prosecution Directorate confiscated the following money from drug traffickers seized during anti-narcotic operations: 7,003,554 Afghanis, 12,653 US Dollars, 5,714, 140 Pakistani Rupees, 14,296,950 Toman, and also 17, 950 Indian Rupees.

The above mentioned amounts were detected and seized by detective organizations. All money have been handed over and deposited at Da Afghanistan Bank.

It is worth saying that during 1392, large quantities of narcotic drugs and intoxicating drinks have been seized from drug traffickers by security and detective organizations. After their arson orders had been issued by authorized courts, the seized narcotics have been burned in the presence of high ranking government official, foreign guests and national and international media.

In the aforementioned period, Kabul, Helmand and Herat provinces are on top of the CJTF list, Kabul by having 125 cases, Helmand by having 115 and Herat by having 71 cases.
